The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC), is the most important specialist centre for the surveillance of infectious diseases in Ireland.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) aims to improve the health of the Irish population by collecting, interpreting and providing the best possible information on infectious diseases. It aims to do so through surveillance and independent advice, epidemiological investigation, research and training.
The HPSC works in partnership with health service providers and fellow organisations in other countries to ensure that up-to-date information is available to contribute to the effective control of infectious diseases.
Until 2005 the HPSC was known as the National Disease Surveillance Centre.
